I want to talk about a recent scam I have run across with respect to information security. I received an unsolicited message from an unsaved number referring to themselves as
“GrÖpMe SuppÖrt”
claiming that I have been randomly selected to win the iPhone 12 PRO! All I had to do was click the link that says “groupme.takeprizenow.grabify”. With prior knowledge of links I am aware that the grabify link is one that takes your IP address and the fake group me support has no business having access to my IP address. My advice for when you come accross a link from an unknown number no matter what they are offering is to not click it.

I have also faced a similar situation, I recently received an email that provided me a link to click. I trashed it so I would not click it accidentally.

I’ve come across a scam very similar to the one you encountered, except I was added to a groupchat with many other people. After realizing it was a scam, I deleted the conversation, left the group, and blocked the number.

Thank you for your reply, yes it seems that is another common way for scammers to target a high quantity of people at once good strategy to delete the conversation.

It’s a cold world out there.. been getting scams from some websites I shouldn’t have been on. VPNs help, but make sure those aren’t scams themsleves. Stay safe. :0
